Extension and refurbishment of a Grade II Listed private residential property
MWA have successfully completed the refurbishment and restoration of this Grade II Listed residence within St John’s Wood Conservation Area.
Originally dating to the 1820s, the property had undergone substantial alterations in the 1960s, impacting much of its original historic character. MWA’s scheme restores and celebrates the building’s surviving historic fabric while introducing a series of considered alterations to the internal living arrangements. A two-storey side extension replaces the former dated garage, complementing the character of the original house. To the rear, a contemporary extension was introduced, improving the existing amenities and creating a dialogue with the restored rear garden. A comprehensive fabric upgrade, alongside the lowering of the lower-ground floor, further improves the quality, proportions, and functionality of the internal spaces.
