MWA have secured planning permission and listed building consent for the refurbishment and restoration of a Grade II listed private dwelling within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Situated within a historic terrace neighbouring the former home of Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, the property forms part of an architecturally and culturally significant setting.
The proposal seeks to carefully restore the historic features of the building. The deteriorated non-original extension to the rear of the property will be replaced with a modern addition carefully considered in its materiality, scale, and proportions to complement the existing façade. Designed to remain subservient to the principal building, the new intervention respects the established hierarchy and rhythm of the terrace, balancing sensitive heritage restoration with a contemporary architectural approach.
