We are proud to announce that OneWelbeck Health Centre has been shortlisted for the AJ Retrofit Awards in the Health category. The AJ Retrofit Awards which is run by The Architects’ Journal, celebrates the design expertise behind the vital renewal and repurposing of existing buildings.
Occupying a former office building, each floor of OneWelbeck was previously fit out to a CAT-A office specification, and required meticulous spatial planning and coordination of additional services to accommodate a change of use and the demands of a healthcare facility. Phase 1 & 2 of the development delivers 85,000 sqft over seven floors; providing centres for Digestive Health, Cardiology, Imaging, Diagnostics and Orthopaedics, Women’s Healthcare, an ENT suite and General Consulting spaces. Designed to be calm, personable and welcoming, the scheme focus’ on the patient experience, which has been carefully considered across all scales. From the spatial organisation and material palette, through to bespoke furniture, fabric selection and a curated collection of art; MWA offered an expansive design service with a high-attention to detail that allowed the project to transcend the stigma attached to clinical environments and elevate the client’s brand as they enter the UK market.
