In 2014, this Grade II Listed Neo-Georgian property was granted planning consent to be converted from a construction training facility into seven residential properties. Proposals also included the extensive demolition of incongruous rear extensions and internal remodelling of its reinforced concrete frame. Construction works commenced on site in the summer of 2015, but were halted in 2016 with the construction site being put to market.
Our client, GFZ Properties, acquired the dormant construction site in 2017 and appointed MWA to appraise the enacted planning consents with a view to rationalising the consented scheme to provide units of a size and number that better reflected the residential market in the Bloomsbury Area.
MWA, working with planning consultants Montagu Evans, submitted a series of Listed Building Applications and Variations to the extant planning consents to modify the internal layouts of the building and provide 8 residential units across 6 floors.
Works resumed on site in 2017 and are expected to be completed in early 2018, with the onward sale of a number of the units agreed prior to completion.
