This complete refurbishment of a semi-detached family house in West Hampstead, involved opening up the existing ground floor and linking a new basement level space with open voids and a staircase to create light and open plan family living areas. The remaining 2 storeys of the building have been fully refurbished and designed to maximise the use of existing spaces and introduce new, modern bathrooms.

Many existing and traditional details have been retained and used in the new scheme to reflect the historic nature of the building. The gardens have been fully landscaped to compliment the striking nature of the new rear façade. The new full height sliding doors to the rear elevation utilise a flush-glazed laminated timber window system. The door frames use FSB-certified timber species and the structural laminate of the veneers allows the frames to be light and graceful in form. The plain-formed natural concrete wall to the internal staircase was formed in-situ and provides the supporting structure for the cantilevered oak-clad timber stair and toughened glass balustrade.
