MWA are progressing with Stage 3 design and interiors for the refurbishment and extension of a private detached house in Hampstead – an area we have worked in for over a decade. The property sits within the Fitzjohns/Netherhall Conservation Area, known for its strong Queen Anne and Arts and Crafts influences.
Owned by the same family for several years, the house is now being redeveloped for the next generation. The project involves restoring original features and reconstructing the rear to accommodate contemporary living. Early opening-up works uncovered newspapers dating from 1971.
The design takes cues from the existing house and merges these with the client’s brief to deliver a carefully considered upgrade. The scheme combines improved energy efficiency, modern technology, and a renewed internal fitout.
Externally, the approach is one of sensitive refurbishment and extension. Internally, the design is more bespoke, reflecting the client’s needs and personal character.
