MWA have commenced works on site for the redevelopment of a Queen Anne style family home in Hampstead. The property is not listed but is located within the Fitzjohns Netherhall Conservation Area in the London Borough of Camden.
The existing building is arranged over basement, ground, first and second floors and is being comprehensively refurbished to create an 8,000 sqft family home. The works include a replacement side extension, full excavation beneath the existing footprint to increase basement accommodation, and an integrated landscaping scheme.
The use of red terracotta on the proposed pavilion references the materiality of the host building and responds to the character of the surrounding conservation area. The project focuses on upgrading the building fabric and spatial arrangement to support contemporary family living while remaining sensitive to its setting.
