MWA are delighted to have received Planning Consent for our redevelopment scheme of a detached house in Hampstead and have now commenced works on site. The consent was secured after positive collaboration with London Borough of Camden. The property sits within the Fitzjohns/Netherhall Conservation Area, known for its strong Queen Anne and Arts and Crafts influences.
Owned by the same family for several years, the house is now being redeveloped for the next generation. The project involves restoring original features externally and reconstructing the rear to accommodate contemporary living. Early opening-up works uncovered newspapers dating from 1971.
The design takes cues from the existing house and merges these with the client’s brief to deliver a carefully considered upgrade. The scheme combines improved energy efficiency, modern technology, and a renewed internal fitout.
Externally, the approach is one of sensitive refurbishment and extension, and looking to salvage and reuse some of the existing facing materials, to maintain local character. Internally, the design is more bespoke, reflecting the client’s needs and personal character.
