Design development is underway for the refurbishment and extension of an Arts and Crafts house in Primrose Hill.
The proposals restore clarity to the original composition while extending the house to the rear. The design draws directly from the language of the existing building and the wider street, where red brick bases and tile-hung upper floors establish a consistent material palette. Brickwork and tile hanging are tonally matched in a terracotta red so the house sits comfortably within this context.
Over time, wear and incremental alterations have weakened the original order of the building. The project reinstates that structure through careful repair and a more coherent arrangement of the internal spaces.
A new rear extension continues the material language of the house and opens the principal living rooms to the garden. A new basement level is introduced beneath the house to accommodate leisure spaces, while a garden summer house sits at the edge of the site.
